ALCHEMIST'S HOUSE
The Alchemist's house is an example of what you can do by taking the basic idea of the town house, and adding some things, while changing others. I was inspired to build this after seeing a picture of an old card building which came with an old Warhammer articles anthology book. (I haven't included a method for this building, as it is basically a modified townhouse.
I call this the alchemist's house, because as I see it, only an alchemist could possibly live in such an odd house! My brother suggested adding a sign reading 'Lead into gold while-u-wait', but I couldn't find anywhere to put it!
The alchemist's house includes some features I mentioned on the town house page, like a chimney and attic window. The chimney is made of medium thickness card, with bricks cut from thin card glued on along the edges.
A little putty was added to give texture to the central part. Bricks like these are easy to make, and look really good.
The attic window is also really simple. You just need to make sure you get the angles right, and modify the roofing tiles around it a bit.
The overhanging wooden extension was entirely constructed from balsa wood, roughly carved with a scalpel to give it that rough hewn look.
