BARRICADES

Barricades are essential to games of Necromunda. They break up lines of fire, make you run further, and give you something to hide behind. They also allow you to make a sort of fort for when you get raided.

MATERIALS:

  • Corrugated Card
  • Thin card
  • Toothpicks
  • Sand
  • Oil drums, Jerry cans and other detritus
First, cut a base from corrugated card, about 12cm longand 2cm wide. Now, take your thin card, and cut a strip about 20cm but 3cm. Cut this into about six or seven randomly sized smaller pieces. These will form the metal sheets from which the barricade is constructed. Now, cut some thin strips, about 12cm by 5cm.Place your metal plates lying face down, and over lapping as they would be in the barricade. Glue the thin strips across the back. Now, stand the barricade up, and glue it to it's base. Use toothpicks as uprights. Cut them in half, and leave the points on.
When the glue dries, use PVA and sand to cover the bases.

Spray paint the whole thing black, and dry brush the ground with brown. Dry brush the barricade in several metal colors (I used Mithril Silver, Boltgun metal and Dwarf bronze)
And there you have an entire barricade!

A set of six or eight makes a good sized fortified zone, and gives you plenty to scatter about when you're not being raided.
Try adding some oil drums, Jerry cans, or whatever comes to hand to give the barricades an even more ramshackle appearance.
Two of my barricades are actually made from the walls of a Model Railway bridge (it was part of my Brother's abortive railway)
