IRONGOUNDERSON'S BREWERS MODELING DIARY
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 7: The sign of the Golden Anvil (Bryn Grong)

Yesterday I finished Uni. Which means today I can paint! I bought the Battle for Skull pass on Sunday, but because I've had assessment tasks due in, I have not been able to dedicate much time to working on Ironfounderson's lads until now. I did find time to paint the first six warriors over the last three days, and today I finished the regiment.

I did a few minor conversions, since the entire regiment consist of three basic trooper models (each one repeated thrice) and the command group. I've repositioned the hands on most of the models for more dynamic poses. It's amazing how much difference a few degrees can make! I've also replaced the weapons on two dwarves with beer stiens. On these guys, I fitted the axe to their backs, making new handles from plastic rod to replace what was cut away.
The Sign of the Golden Anvil itself is made from plasticard, the pole is plastic rod.

The colour scheme used on these guys is different fro Cragaxe's scheme. I used darker red, and a deeper yellow. I also got a new pot of Shining gold, and one of Burnished gold. The new shining gold is much better, it goes on in a nice solid layer, and really stands out well. I've used the burnished gold to highlight things like rivets and runes. I carefully wrote 'Bryn Grong' (Golden Anvil) on the sign with a felt tip pen. It took me a while to find one, all of my fine liners are ball point!

My Mum (who is an artist, and therefore has a good eye for colour) pointed out to me that the beards on most of the Dwarves in the Army book look slightly greenish. The same thing has happened to a few of mine, so I guess there is a very small amount of green pigment in a couple of GWs brown paints. I have decided to ignore it. I never noticed until she pointed it out, so no one else will either!

UPDATE:

Just after 9:00PM I've finsihed the Pony! I've taken the grudge pony from BFSP and converted it into a beer pony by replacing the crate with a barrel. It's been based on a 60mm by 40mm base, so it takes up the same amount of space as 6 dwarf warriors. This allows me to expland the regiment fro 12 to 18! Plus it looks really cute!

As you can see, the pony really expands the size of the regiment nicely. Of course, I'd like to have at least 20 dwarves, but that will have to wait until I have enough models!
