ORKY WARBUGGY SQUADRON

Long long ago, lost in the mists of time, when I was still an undergrad (okay, last year...), I bought a 1/32 scale model of a 1930 Bentley. I had the kit for a long time when the mania struck - I suddenly realized my life would not be complete without turning it into a Warbuggy! The fact that I was playing Fantasy at the time, and did not have a proper Ork army to go with it was beside the point.

SO I ended up with a crazy Orky hot rod looking buggy. I was out of orky bits, so the guns had to be scratch built from tubing and storm bolter bits, the suspension is spindly and looks set to snap at the drop of a hat (it's meant to be that way! Mostly cause I couldn't be bothered messing with the kit suspension anyway...), and the spoiler is a loony and probably useless touch.

I tried painting rust around the edges of panels for the first time on this model. Basically, I stippled on Vermin Brown, followed by a highlight with Blazing Orange. I've since refined the technique - i use less paint, and only Vermin Brown.

The bug had bitten by now. Next I rediscovered a Jeep kit I'd bought to make terrain out of. Under the knife if went! I ended up with a Rokkit-Luancha equipped orky monster truck. The conversion work this time involved fitting huge wheels from a toy truck, a havoc launcher from the chaos vehicle accessories sprue, and making the loonies to drive it since it's open topped and you can see them clearly.

The driver makes use of the Ork General on Boar plastic legs, repositioned a lot they just fit in the foot well. The gunner is covered in bionic bits and sighting gear. I used the sight from a 1/25 TOW missile launcher for his shoulder unit, part of a slugga for his bionic eye, and bits of various guns for his remote control unit. His arm and hand had to be modified to grip the roll cage. Next up... who knows? It all depends on what I can lay my hands on. A Soviet WWII Ba20 Armored car (I think that's the name) is my favorite, but they are hard to find kits of. My other plan was to find some sort of car, and make a Pimp Mobile!
