GENESIS
OF EGBERT
And
lo, in the 9th month of the 2004th year of our lord Jesus Christ (by
the Christian Calendar, or 21AEOB by the Owenic calendar) it came
to pass that I, Owen of Top, lord of Nurgle, Chief of the great slaver
Clan Grabthug, doer of stuff and seeker after truth didst turn 21.
And,
as is usual with men of this age, my thoughts turned the purchase
of a truly appropriate Automotive vehicle. And lo, did I look upon
Carpoint, and my eye fell upon an advertisement for a 1980 model Mazda
929L, for the princely sum of $2000 (which was about all I was prepared
to pay)
And
this car became known as Egbert. |

Egbert
is fitted with a 2.0 liter inline four cylinder petrol engine, which
considering the size of him, makes him a tad under powered (the identical
engine is fitted to my Brother's considerably smaller 626).Coupled
with a 3 speed automatic, this makes for slow take offs, low
acceleration, and distinctly non world shattering performance.
It
does, however work for very classy cruising, which is what I care
about. Egbert is fitted with a set of Cheviot alloy wheels, which
look rather classy in a 1980's way, and after which my brother currently
lusts.

| Future
plans for Egbert include replacing the suspension, fitting new wing
mirrors, fixing the radio, boot and fuel door releases, trying to
get central locking to work (it was an option on the 929L, so I can
probably get the set up from a wreckers), and of course, getting my
Ps so I can go solo (damn it!)] |
