FORTIFIED FARM HOUSE
I came across a picture of a building kinda like this while I was flicking through an old White Dwarf. It was just in the foreground of a picture of games day, but I liked the look of it. So of course I had to build one didn't I? To be honest, I'm not really sure what this building is. Is it a watch post? Put it on a tall hill and it can be. Is it a small manor house? Or is it the abode of a Peasant with ideas above his station? Whatever it is, it looks good!
This building was made using the same sort of techniques as the town house and cottage. It's 8cm wide, and 16cm long, with the tower being 8cm tall (minus the crenelations). The crenelations are just bits of roughly hewn balsa wood, painted brown, and drybrushed with orange-brown.

I did two new things with this building however. For one, I based it with Static grass to fit in with the other stuff at HGC. For another, I painted flesh wash over all the walls, and roughly dabbed at it to give the weathered effect, which makes the whole thing look so much more real. I also experimented with painting in glass windows, but It didn't work out. The hatch on the roof is made in exactly the same way as a door, it's just a different shape.
