PILLARS

These are practically the first items I made specifically for HGC. One of the Hamptonites, who works as a Gardener, came in one day and said "Can anyone think of anything to do with flower pots?" Ever the one to experiment, I said I'd have a go. The flower pots in question are the very small ones that individual plants come in, and they are almost exactly the same height as Necro bulk heads! So I made up a set of these 'pillars.'
The pillars are designed to stand on their own, or be used to hold up platforms or walkways. Each pillar is a bit different from the others, but they are all the same height. Since every one of these pillars is so
wildly diferent, I decided not to provide a step-by-step guide to making them, but rather a basic method, and info on how I made some of the details.

MATERIALS:

  • Small, square plant pots
  • Corrugated card
  • Thin card
  • HO gauge flexi-trak
  • Hair curlers
  • Fax rolls/recite rolls
  • Flywire

Basically, all you have to do is stick a flower pot onto a base, and then stick a small platform on top. However, you can make them as ventilators by simply gluing fly wire onto them.
On a couple of the pillars, I've tried to get those industrial looking cages around ladders you see occasionally by using Hair curlers.
Unfortunately, they do sort of look like basket ball rings...
The waste tank on one of the pillars is a cut down fax roll, with thin card end plates. Receipt rolls work just as well, if you can get them. All the pillars where sprayed chaos black, because it is very hard to brush an even coat onto the weird
hyper-slick plastic they are made from. They where then either painted neutral grey, or drybrushed silver.
