WATCH TOWER

This is the first piece of the 'brettonian set' which I plan to construct for HGC. This piece is designed to fit in with armies other than Brettonians, it could equally well be an Empire tower, or considering it's rickety state, an Orcish edifice. It is built with techniques learnt from the hovel, using the individual block masonry method. This does take a while(especially on projects this large) but it yields very nice results. This time, things where sped up by the use of 1cm thick polystyrene sheet (last time I used 2cm thick sheet, and had to cut it down). The base is made from 3 cm thick polystyrene, glued to a piece of MDF for extra durability (and because the little 'property of HGC' stickers I always put on the bottom don't stick to polystyrene that well!)
I carved half the base into a rocky cliff, and the other half into a gentle slope. Sand was strategically applied and painted, then static grass laid over the top. The rock itself was painted with a slightly brown base coat so it would look different from the towers stone work.I also added some tall grass made from my latest discovery - sisal twine. This stuff is used for gardening purposes. It's perfect for making tall grass and reeds out of, especially since it's green already! I simply teased out some lengths and glued them down.
